Stampin’ Fun For Lea’s Place

Hi Everyone,

I know I’ve been scattered with my posting lately. I’ve just been so busy with my charity work, Civitan Club and my events… it’s been crazy. I’d like to share a bit about my last event for Lea’s Place here in Jacksonville , Florida.

"It's a safe place for children who are victims of abuse and/or neglect who are traumatized from being removed from their home. When children are brought to Lea's Place, their most immediate needs are addressed. Nurturing volunteers greet them with a smile, an ear and assurances that they will be okay. Food, clothing, and toys are provided to reduce the impact of the circumstances in which the children find themselves. These services stabilize the children and give them a better opportunity to cope with the sometimes long journey ahead."

Or event was held at the Bluewater Storage Center in Jacksonville. They are in my Arlington Civitan Club and are gracious enough to provide us a venue for our events.  This is the mural they have painted in the loading dock are of their facility. Here I am with Andy my long distance customer and friend. Andy is a Doctor in Louisiana and decided to come to my event. How awesome is that? Thanks for coming and helping Andy. She even helped in my class a bit and demonstrated…..couldn’t get her to sign up….not yet anyway! hehe

Lea's Place and Andy 026     Lea's Place and Andy 031 This is Kathy Suber who represented Lea’s Place. She is the DCF Volunteer Coordinator.  Kathy is so dedicated to her job and helping the children of Jacksonville, she is amazing.

Now onto the event. We always Raffle off a V. I. P Package complete with Boa, Tiara, Seat Cushion and special coupons for one lucky Stamper. This time our “Queen for the Day” was Kim!! Doesn't she look cute in her Tiara and boa?

Lunch time!!! Girls had wonderful Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches provided by the Philly Connection here in Jax. If you are ever in Jax you need to visit Kelly and Steve and tell them Lee sent you. You won’t be sorry. They make the best Philly Steak around! Yum!

Here is Debi presenting a brand spankin’ new “Big Shot” to Susan. Her customer (not in attendance) won the “Big Shot” in the Raffle.

Lea's Place and Andy 023

Let me just say that 100% of the raffle money goes to the charity we are working for. We were fortunate to receive some long distance donations to add to the Raflle Money so Lea’s Place will be able to provide the necessary little things to their kids that walk through that door. Things like Toothpaste and tooth brushes and snacks and clean clothing and perhaps a coloring book to keep them busy as they wait. Of course I have donated some Stamping things to Lea’s Place and here is what Kathy had to say about that….

“We also want to thank you for the donation of stamps and stationary. They have already been a considerable blessing to our kids. One child who has been separated from her brother and sister was able to write them a very touching letter decorated with several stamps. She seemed much happier when she knew the caseworker was planning to mail it to them.”

How delighted I was to receive this note from Kathy and to know that a little gesture of stamps made the transition a bit easier for that child. Isn’t it amazing what Stamping can do for people?

I truly love what I do and share what I love…..and now you know why I’ve been a bit delinquent in posting…. but it is for good reason.

I will be posting in a day or so…..but thanks for stopping by.

Stamping 411 Sketch 218~Summer Solstice

Hi Everyone,

Got a sweet little card for you today. At least I think it’s cute. Love the soft colors here and the dainty doily. This card was made for the Stamping 411 sketch challenge this wee. I hope you will go on over and play along or just see what the other talented Operators have come up with.

Here is the sketch ….

ssc218

………and my interpretation

Craft Show and Sketch218 007

The card base is 5 1/2 x 81/2 and folded over. It’s done in Pool Party. Gorgeous soft color…I love it.

the next layer is a white mat sized at 3 3/4 x 5 and then a piece of DSP called “Domestic Goddess” that matches the Pool Party Paper perfectly, it’s cut at 3 1/2 x 3 5/8. Followed by a strip of white embossed card stock with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder. It measures 1 1/2 x 3 5/8. those two pieces are attached to the White mat. I’ve done a double loop bow and attached to the back of the card and popped that layer up with dimensionals.

The pretty doily comes from the Specialty DSP called Flirtatious. I cut one of the doilies off the piece and used the white side. I then attached a circle cut from the Circles dies and added a Pool Party Circle cut with the 1 3/4 circle punch. The lat circle is punched from polka dotted left over with the 1 3/8 circle punch to coordinate with the bottom of the card. I stamped the Butterfly with Calypso Coral onto a scrap of white and cut it out. Then popped it up with a dimensional. The inside has a white mat to stamp or write on and a small strip of the same DSP. Hope you like it.

Thanks for visiting and hope you will play along. See you next time!

Stamping 411 Sketch 217~Creative Elements

Hi Everyone,

I hope you will take time to play with us over at Stamping 411 this week. We’ve got some great designs from the Operators to share and hopefully inspire you.

Here is the sketch:ssc217

…and my simple interpretation.

Sketch 217 002  I am just loving this new set called Creative Elements. Don’t you just love this butterfly? So Simple and Elegant!

Yes I cut all five butterfly out but had this in mind for this card as soon as I saw it.

The card base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded. The green mat is Lucky Limeade and cut to 4x 5 1/4 and the white embossed mat is 3 7/8 x 5 1/8…it’s embossed with the new Houndstooth embossing folder….cool huh?

The ribbon is ted into a double bow and I added three tiny rhinestones to each butterfly to complete this card. The inks used are Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade and Pool Party. Love, love, love these colors!!

Hope you’ll play along with us. Thanks for stopping in and see you next time.

Stamping 411 Sketch 216~Daisy

Hi Everyone,

Hope you’re having a great day. It’s smoldering hot here in Florida and a great time to stay inside in the A/C and stamp. Although there is not stamping on this card…..but I’m doing others too. hehe

Today's sketch is really fun and different….hope you will play along.

ssc216

….and my creation……

Sketch 216

I’ve really been enjoying playing with flowers lately. Doesn't this look real? It’s the Daisy Die and done with white card stock.

The card is basic and simple. The fold over is cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 then a mat in white that is 4 x 5 1/4 and run through the Big Shot with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder. The only colors on the card are little strips of some of the new In-Colors. The Lucky Limeade is cut to 3/4 x 4 and the Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder are cut at 3/4 x 4 1/2. Plain and simple but I love these colors together. I’ve used tow layers of each size daisy that is on the die and added a Lucky Limeade Circle to the center and popped a Designer Printed Brad in the center. That’s it. Oh I attached the flower to the card using glue dots. It’s that simple.

I hope you’ve enjoyed your visit and will play along with us over at Stamping 411 .

Guns and Roses Flower Box & a Chance to Win a Free Tutorial!! Metal and Roses Get it?

Want to win this Pretty Flower Tutorial and have it sent right to your inbox? Just leave a comment and I will let random.org select a winner Thursday morning. Can’t wait? You can purchase it on my right sidebar.

So what do you think should go into this Luxurious little box I made this morning? I think Jewelry but what do you think? It measures 3 1/4 square and just the right size to house a little necklace or bracelet. I think I’m going to make some of these for a craft fair I’ll be doing soon.   Metal Box 003

Can you tell I’ve used some sanded metal on here. I love this stuff…so easy to work with and so impressive. You can purchase the metal sheets from Monica Weaver over at Add a Little Dazzle. Can you believe I used  scraps from other projects to make this? My point…..don’t throw these scraps away, they are capable of creating wonderful things!!!!

I decided to add the Houndstooth Embossing Folder to add some richness to this box. Wasn’t sure how I liked the more masculine texture with the delicate flower but I do. By the way I got the template from my friend Sandi MacIver…well she actually gave me a beautiful box at convention and it was just the right size so I used the inside of the box for this template. Thanks Sandi!

Stamping 411 Sketch 215 ~ Wicked Cool!

Hi Everyone,

Wow the week has just flown by. Here we are again and it’s time for Stamping 411 Sketch Challenge.

Here is the sketch….

clip_image001

Super cute sketch….and here is my interpretation of it.

clip_image002

I just received this set in my order the other day and as soon as I took it out of the box I knew it would fit this sketch. It’s called “Wicked Cool”…don’t you love it?

Anyway the base of the card is Basic Black and is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded in half. The next layer is Cajun Craze that is 4 x 5 1/4 and I stamped the spider web from the “Wicked Cool” Set all over it ….well more like random stamping. The layer behind the DSP is black and is 3 1/8x 3 1/8 and the Dotted DSP is 3x3. The DSP is called Frightful Sight by the way. The Black layer for the Witches boots is1 7/8 x 3 7/8 and the white image piece is 1 3/4 x 3 3/4. I stamped the saying and the boots in Black Stazon as I feel it’s such a true back color and always get the best results with it. I then colored in with my Cajun Craze and Old Olive Markers. The Double Bow is done with the Black Taffeta Ribbon. The Image and Mat are pooped up on Dimensionals. That’s it!!!

I hope you like it and will think about playing along this week. It’ll be fun.
