Good Morning Everyone!
I have found a great use for Cookbooks! Yes you heard me right. I wanted to try the Scallop Circle Flower I’ve seen around and wanted to use old book pages I didn’t care too much about. So I went scouring through some old cookbooks I’ll never use and this is what I’ve come up with for my Stamping 411 Challenge card this week. I hope you enjoy it.
Here is the sketch:
…and my interpretation….
So what do you think? I really had fun with this card and even though I know it will take a box and lots of packing materials to mail, it was fun and so out of the box for me!!!
I’m having a blast with the new miniature background stamp from Stampin’ Up! called “Solid Stripes. Something caught my eye on this one and I just had to have it. I decided to make it more feminine today and stamp with it one way in Green Galore and the other way in Pink Passion, kind of making a plaid pattern. Isn’t that fun????? I then trimmed that piece and matted on a 2 3/4x 23/4 piece of Pink Passion.
The Card base is Pink Passion and measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded. The white mat is 5” x 4” and run through the Big Shot with my Perfect Dots Embossing Folder. I then cut a strip of Green Galore and stamped the stripes again on it with Green Galore for a tone on tone appearance. I had a scrap on my desk of Pink Passion and decided to add the scallop punch on the bottom as an after thought.
The flower is punched with my Scallop Punch (my friend Carole’ Anne taught me this). Check out her fabulous blog. Talk about a Talented Lady!!!!
You punch 10 flowers out of book print or card stock your preference and fold them to teeny tiny. They you unfold and stack them. In my flower I sponged the area before stacking. You then use your paper piercer and make a small hole in the center which you will put a brad through. Once you’ve done that start brining the layers up and scrunching a bit until the flower forms. So easy and fun!!!
The leaves were cut with my little leaves die and the little butterfly’s with the Butterfly embosslit. So very cool to have these tools to create such a whimsical little card in a snap!
Okay I lied…..it was not done in a snap….this was the card that just kept building…but once you’ve done it, it will go quickly!!! hehehe
The little Hello is from Pendant Park and I cut it out using the Matchbox Die which has may shapes in it to play with.
I topped it off with some of our yummy White Satin Ribbon. I brought the ribbon around and taped in back and then just looped the ribbon under the flower and stapled it and set the flower on top.
So there you go.
I hope you will take the time to visit the Stamping 411 blog and play along. There is so much talent there. You’ll have a blast just looking around.
Thanks for stopping by and as always…
Have a Stampinglee Good Day!
